blessed be

blessed be you
when history says no,
and God ups the sun
again anyway

blessed be you
lacking money, not love,
giving your self
not to bury the coin

blessed be you
when they mock you your God,
when you marvel strangers
and friendship returned

blessed be you
when they ask you your song,
blessed be those
who wonder the tune.

blest be the one
who nights into day,
blest be the one
who continues you.

(beatitudes begun mostly from Psalms:
stanza 1 – Psalm 19; stanza 2 – parables of Jesus;
stanza 3 – Psalm 3; stanza 4 – Psalm 137; stanza 5 – Psalm 16
