“houses of the holy”

for holy stores of people, God,
and we you story too,

for verbing us when world says noun,
and squinting I in you,

for trekkers grinning broad-rimmed hats,
and those you live unfurled,

for debting me this day your gifts,
I marvel, God, the swirl.
________

(on misreading a line in a poem which referred
to the “holy stories” of people.)
