Shall we lift us, God, our eyes,
as if coming into life
you could angle even this?

Palms we dropped before your rise,
breath still bracing into next,
year behind us shadow-pressed.

Shelter forty days our lives,
lean us, reach anointing yet,

full the piercing of your sky,
blessing keep us ash to ash.
