in country

“in country”

to let go what is not
for where I am,

to listen your bidding
of what I can,

to see in your limning
the given land,

to reach you in giving,
an open hand.

  1. I’m in Kansas. did a workshop on an old book “Caring for Ourselves while Caring for our Elders” which is ever-new as the situation ambushes a particular family. But looking at the outskirts of Wichita while reading your poem is quite magical.
